No analytics. No tracking cookies. No ad pixels. Fonts are served from this domain, not from Google. Videos and the one Reddit thread load only when you press play. There is no cookie banner because there are no cookies to warn you about.
Who is responsible
MatterAE and this site are run by Sander Dufourmont, trading as Able & Baker, Belgium.
For anything privacy-related, email info@matterae.com. A human (there is exactly one) reads it.
What this site actually touches
Server logs
The site is ordinary static hosting. Like every web server, the host keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested page, time) to deliver pages and fend off abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in running a website that works.
Two counters, on our own server
The download page reads a download counter, and the education page reads a license counter. Both live on our own n8n server (n8n.ablebaker.be), not with a third party. The requests carry what any web request carries, an IP address, and return a number. No cookie is set and no profile is built. Clicking the download or apply button bumps the counter by one, and that is the whole story.
Your theme choice
The dark-mode toggle stores one value ("matterae-theme") in your browser's localStorage. It never leaves your machine and you can delete it in your browser's site-data settings. It is a preference you asked for, not tracking.
Embedded video and the Reddit thread
The demo video, the course lessons and the showcase reel are placeholders until you press play. Nothing is requested from anyone until then. When you do press play, the content loads from YouTube (through youtube-nocookie.com, their reduced-cookie mode), Instagram, or Reddit, and from that moment their privacy policies apply: Google/YouTube · Instagram · Reddit. Pressing play is the consent; not pressing it means nothing loads.
If you email us (bugs, feature requests, anything), the mail sits in a normal inbox, gets read by one person, and is kept for as long as the conversation is useful. It does not feed a newsletter or a marketing list, because there is neither.
Education licenses
The application form sends your name, school email, role and school to our own n8n server. If your school's mail domain is recognized, a key is generated and mailed to that school address automatically; nobody reads the application. If it is not recognized, one human looks at it, usually within a day or two. There is no ID upload, ever. Application data is kept while your license is valid and deleted after it expires (the next 31 October).
The key itself is checked on your machine, with no server call. Using the plugin phones nobody.
Buying MatterAE
Purchases happen on Gumroad, which is the merchant of record, meaning Gumroad is the legal seller and handles payment data, VAT and its own compliance under Gumroad's privacy policy. What we receive from a sale is what licensing needs: your email address and the license key tied to it. The panel shows it back to you as "Licensed to: you@email.com" and that is all it is used for.
The plugin's update check
For completeness: the MatterAE panel itself fetches one small file from this site on startup (update.json) to see if a newer version exists. It is a plain file request, no account, no identifier, nothing sent beyond the request itself.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, ask us to restrict or stop processing it, and take your data elsewhere. Email info@matterae.com and it will be handled by hand, because there is honestly not much data to handle. You can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be) or your local one.
Legal bases, for the record
Serving the site, the logs and the counters: legitimate interest. Issuing licenses and education keys: taking steps you asked for before and under a contract. Loading an embed: your consent, given by pressing play.
When this page changes
If the site starts doing something new with data, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. No silent edits.
